CRAN-ANNE
LOOK-ALIKE CONTEST
| The
joy of winning was written all over 9-year-old Fiona Rowats
face last October as she received the 2009 Cran-Anne Look-alike
winners banner from Cassidy Schuchardt (right) also 9,
winner of the previous years contest. Fiona, who lives
in Mississauga, Ontario, impressed everyone with how much she
looked and sounded like Anne Shirley. It is easy to see why
so many people at the Bala Cranberry Festival asked for permission
to take her photo. This is always a fun contest to watch!
Our
next contest will be on
Saturday,
2 pm
October 16, 2010

Balas
Museum with Memories of Lucy Maud Montgomery
1024
Maple Ave.
Corner
of Maple Ave. and River Street, 2 blocks off the main street.
Once again,
our contest will be an excellent opportunity to enjoy the Bala Cranberry
Festival, which has become one of the most popular small town fairs
in all Ontario. It attracts up to 25,000 people to a Muskoka resort
town that has only 500 people year-round.
There will be
a small cost to participate in the contest $1 for the contestant,
plus a Cranberry Festival button. Contestants should arrive by 1:30
to be registered.
The big question
is what Anne of Green Gables would look like if she showed up at
the Bala Cranberry Festival. The judges base their selection upon
the contestants knowledge of Anne of Green Gables, their costumes
and perhaps most important of all their Anne-ness.
Every year, a young girl shows up who is just right.
This is a great
family outing that Anne Shirley and Diana would have enjoyed immensely.
Plan to tour the museum either before or after the contest. And
dont miss the Anne of Green Gables gift shop!
Every one of
our contestants can count upon receiving a prize.
The winners
prize was donated in 2009 by Kindred Spirits of P.E.I. Its owner,
George Campbell, who also owns the must-see Anne of Green Gables
Family Museum at Park Corner, P.E.I., is a relative of L.M. Montgomery.
Other contestants prizes were donated by Balas Museum.

2006s contest on video!
If
you have high-speed Internet, you can peek at the winner of our 2007 Cran-Anne
contest. Six-year-old Megan Thompson of Parry Sound became an instant celebrity
after her photograph appeared in a prominent article in The Toronto Star immediately
after our contest. Reporter John Goddard not only wrote an article which occupied
two-thirds of a page. He also created a video which can still be seen by clicking
the following Weblink: www.thestar.com/article/266864
You will see
and hear Megan being interviewed by judges Mari Carson and Eunice MacLeod. (Remember
that you will require high-speed Internet to see the video) Our
proud winners:
